For those of you who show your dogs then a dog crate is the ideal way to transport your prize show dog. Offering good value for money you will not be disappointed once you have invested in one. Don't be fooled in to thinking that cheap dog crates will offer the best value for money because in the long run I often refer to the old saying "buy cheap, buy twice" Invest wisely and do your research, there is a lot of thought needed to ensure you buy the right size dog cage for your dog, whether you are buying for a small dog, medium dog or large dog then there will be a crate on the market to suit.
Often referred to as dog cages, and used extensively by dog breeders, dog trainers, veterinary practices, dog groomers and animal welfare societies. A dog cage is a place your dog can call its own. Make sure you have introduced the dog cage to your pet slowly and calmly, put your dogs favourite toy or bedding inside the dog cage and let your dog investigate the cage in his or hers own time. You will find your dog to be a little inquisitive at first and will wander in and out, at this stage do not close the door but leave it open for your dog to calmly explore it at his or her own pace.
Once your dog has got used to the dog cage you will find that they will probably curl up on their bedding and take a nap or just lie quietly inside, at this stage you can shut the door for a few minutes. When you open the door do so calmly and then walk away do not let your dog associate being released from the dog cage with a lot of praise. Repeat this as often as necessary increasing the time the door is closed gradually.
